Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 59-year-old man entered the hospital because of cranial-nerve palsies.Twenty-one years earlier he had an episode of severe vertigo and nausea that persisted for three days. During the next five years mild vertigo recurred on three or four occasions; thereafter, he had very rare episodes of vertigo and an occasional sensation of dizziness on changing position. He was otherwise well until 22 months before admission, when he became unable to close the right eye tightly. A 10-day course of adrenocorticosteroids was given, without effect.
