Abstract
Pituitrin and pitressin produced consistently a hyperlactic acidemia in totally or medullary adrenalectomized rabbits with, simultaneously, either a hypo- or a hyper-glycemia, according to the state of the hepatic glycogen reserves. Pharmaceutical doses produced no significant changes in the peripheral glycogen reserves of medullary adrenalectomized rabbits. Pitressin and pituitrin both diminish the hypoglycemia effect of insulin in medullary adrenalectomized animals, provided there is no hepatic deglycogenation. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
