Abstract
Diffusion shunt designates diffusive exchange between precapillary (arterial) and postcapillary (venous) vessels, leading to functional bypassing of the capillary bed. Diffusion shunt is expected to occur where arterial and venous vessels lie sufficiently close to each other. They may belong to the same capillary area or to different capillary areas (Fig. 1).Keywords
