Abstract
This article examines the working relationships, or linkages, senior centers have with other organizations in the community, using a national sample of 246 centers. Referral activity is reported to be the most widespread form of linkage and involves an average of 10 organizations, and informal linkages are much more prevalent than formal ones. The nature of the linkage organization varies for different services, but public agencies (e.g., AAAs, recreation and parks departments) as well as private entities (e.g., doctors, hospitals) are involved in this process. Finally, multiple regression analysis reveals considerable variation in the correlates of the number of organizations with which senior centers work for different linkage types. Keywords
