Abstract
A one dimensional model of electron multiplication in a gas in strong electric fields is considered by using the Laplace transform technique. An approximate expression for the first Townsend ionization coefficient is derived and found to be in a good agreement with the experimental data for a variety of atomic and molecular gases. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
