Abstract
The effects of anti-erythrocytic, anti-leukocytic and anti-platelet immune sera on blood and bone marrow of guinea pigs were studied. Given alone, anti-erythrocytic serum resulted in the development of hemolytic anemia, while anti-platelet and anti-leukocyte sera produced peripheral thrombocytopenia and leukopenia respectively. In all 3 groups of animals, the bone marrow, though hypercellular, showed great decrease in the type of cells against which the antiserum was directed. When the 3 antisera were given together, the blood picture was characterized by pancytopenia with relative lymphocytosis, and the bone marrow was markedly hypocellular. The mechanism of the blood and bone marrow changes is discussed. Keywords
