Abstract
In the fasting rabbit the rate of ethereal sulfate formation is independent of the amt. of phenol present above a certain body level, but the simultaneous admn. of a compound, such as Na2SO3 or L-cystine, which is converted to sulfate in vivo, changes the kinetics of the process to those of a lst-order reaction. The effect of various substituents on the value of the velocity constant for sulfate conjugation was determined. It did not appear to be related to the size or electronic influence of the substituent group. Keywords
