Abstract
The method is of use lor solutions containing 1-60 [mu]g/ml. The color reaction is specific for histidine and closely related compounds, namely, histamine and histidine methyl ester. Imidazole does not react and histidine amide gives only a very faint color. Tryptophan and tyrosine do not form colors but interfere with histidine color formation. The interference of some heavy metals and anions is discussed. Keywords
