Spin and Parity of theΞ*(1530 MeV)

Results are presented from the spin-parity analysis of reactions of the type $K^{-}+p\to \Xi K\pi \pi$ in which nearly pure samples of the ${\Xi }^{*}$ (1530) are produced. Comparison is made with the analysis of randomly generated events. The hypothesis of $P_{\frac{3}{2}}$ fits the data better than that of $D_{\frac{3}{2}}$, the latter having a confidence level of ≤ 0.03. Spin $\frac{5}{2}$ is not required.
