Measurement of branching fractions and $C P$ and isospin asymmetries for $B \to K^{*} γ$

Abstract

The branching fractions of the decays

B^{0} \to K^{* 0} γ

and

B^{+} \to K^{* +} γ

are measured using a sample of

88 \times 10^{6} B \bar{B}

events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy

e^{+} e^{-}

collider. We find

B (B^{0} \to K^{* 0} γ) = [3.92 \pm 0.20 (s t a t) \pm 0.24 (s y s t)] \times 10^{- 5}

,

B (B^{+} \to K^{* +} γ) = [3.87 \pm 0.28 (s t a t) \pm 0.26 (s y s t)] \times 10^{- 5}

. Our measurements also constrain the direct

C P

asymmetry to be

- 0.074 < A (B \to K^{*} γ) < 0.049

and the isospin asymmetry to be

- 0.046 < Δ_{0 -} < 0.146

, both at the 90% confidence level.
