Abstract
One-day-old poults infected with infectious bursal disease virus of turkey origin (TIBDV) suffered a prolonged (3 to 4 week) suppression of the cellular immune response and a decrease in the plasma cell population of the Harderian gland. By immunofluorescent techniques, IBDV was demonstrated to persist for 7 days post infection. Antigen was demonstrated in bursal epithelium at the apex of the plica and was never seen in the follicle or cortex. Infection with TIBDV generally presented as a silent disease. This publication has 24 references indexed in Scilit:
