Abstract
Extrapolation to infinite magnetic field of precise measurements of de Haas—van Alphen (dHvA) phase has resolved the ambiguity in Randles's determination of the spin-splitting factor for conduction electrons in potassium, confirming rather than 2.1. Correction of dHvA frequency measurements to the frequency for the equivalent free-electron sphere gives kG, in good agreement with Thomas and Turner's result.
