Observations sur l'herbier de Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile autour de l'Ile d'Ischia (Italie)

Abstract
Observations on the prairies of Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile around the island of Ischia (Italy).—Posidonia oceanica prairies are present over a wide area around the island of Ischia. Their inferior limit of distribution is situated at depths ranging from 30 to 38 m. On average, beds range from « sparse » to « semi-prairie » conditions, and their deepest portions often show dead zones. Exposed rhyzomes, indicating strong erosive phenomena, have been recorded locally. There is evidence of a fall blooming in 1975. Data on leaf area index and distribution of leaf length according to age (juvenile, intermediate and adult) are also given.
