Abstract
Several lures of aqueous solns. that give off ammonia were compared, and one consisting of 2% urea + 3% NaOH was superior in that it remained effective for several weeks with little change in attractiveness after the 1st week. A new dry trap was developed consisting of a waxed paper container in which (NH4) CO3 is used as the lure and on which a sticky tree-banding material is smeared to trap flies. Dry traps of this type caught fewer flies on the average than the best of the liquid lures but were more easily transported and handled. Some practical uses of traps are described and evaluated. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
