Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 55-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of hemoptysis.She was well until two months previously, when there was the onset of symptoms of a respiratory-tract infection, characterized by a nonproductive cough, low-grade fever, chilliness and arthralgia. Ampicillin and tetracycline were given, without benefit. The cough and episodic chilliness persisted, and she experienced aches in the joints and muscles. One week before admission anorexia and nausea developed. Five days before entry the temperature rose to 38.8°C, and she coughed up small blood clots.
