Abstract
We describe the design and operation of a simple apparatus for the measurement of the thermoelectric power under pressure. Its performance has been optimized especially for low thermal conductivity solids such as organic quasi‐one‐dimensional conductors, and it may be used with a pressure medium that is in either the solid or liquid state. These materials have an absolute thermopower of the order of magnitude of ten μV K−1 at ambient temperature. The uncertainty of the apparatus is about 5% and its sensitivity considerably better. Measurements have been made from 300 to 2 K and 0 to 25 Kbar. Keywords
