Abstract
Populations up to 6 x 1011 viable bacteria per ml are attained with a growth system consisting simply of a layer of solid medium overlaid with a small volume of broth. Cell concentrations of 13 bacterial species thus were increased 2- to 30-fold over broth controls, usually without sacrificing total yields. Keywords
