Abstract
An isolated seminal vesicle hypo-gastric nerve preparation of the guinea-pig is described. The preparation showed no spontaneous contractions, but over a period of several hr. nerve stimulation produced constant and reproducible contractions. The response of the seminal vescle elicited by electrical stimulation was abolished by ganglionic blocking agents as well as by bretylium. guanethidine, reserpine and regitine. Atropine had no effect. This behavior provides evidence that the innervation of the preparation is sympathetic in nature and that it involves preganglionic fibres. Keywords
