Abstract
Experiments on kinetic electron emission from GaAs bombarded by slow neutrals (0.5–2 keV) of He, Ar, and Xe are reported. It is shown that the experimental data on excited electron energy distributions and electron yields produced by heavier particles cannot be interpreted in terms of one-electron nonadiabatic processes in solids. An extension of the theory is suggested which is based on an assumption of electron localization and electron-electron interaction in the impact zone of the primary particle.
