Abstract
Time until onset of convulsions in animals exposed to high O2 pressures was shortened by addition of small amounts of CO2 to the breathing mixture. However, addition of large amounts of CO2 to high pressure O2 prevents convulsions. Experiments were designed to determine CO2 tension at which CO2 stopped enhancing and began to inhibit convulsions in mice. This tension was about 120 mm PCO2 or about 15-16% of sea level atmosphere. Keywords
