Abstract
Values of the quadrupole antishielding factor have been calculated for the , , , and ions, using the method of direct solution of the inhomogeneous Schrödinger equation for the perturbed wave functions. For the ion, the present value of (=-9.14) is appreciably larger in magnitude than that previously obtained by Burns and Wikner, resulting in a decrease of the calculated quadrupole moment of as deduced from measurements using ferric compounds. The resulting value of is +0.28× .
