Abstract
The authors report a first measurement of the transfer cross section between the excited states (4p55s(3/2)2) and (5p56p(3/2)1) of krypton and xenon. The method is based on population measurements; for xenon, a spectral analysis of the line at lambda =3.36 mu m is used to determine the transferred population. It is proposed that QT=(5.4+or-1.5)*10-16 cm2 at T=90K and QT=(10+or-4)*10-6 cm2 at room temperature. Keywords
