Abstract
Pancreatic islets were isolated from control and streptozotocin‐diabetic rats. Somatostatin content as determined by radioimmunoassay was strikingly increased in the diabetic group. Immunoreactive insulin content was markedly reduced and glucagon was moderately increased. The mechanisms responsible for the somatostatin changes are unknown. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
