Abstract
The ratios of partial widths for neutron emission and fission, Gamma n/ Gamma f, corresponding to a certain excitation energy E* of heavy nuclei, are extracted from the experimental cross sections for (HI, xn) reactions. The energy dependence of the ratio Gamma n/ Gamma f is investigated in the range 7<or=E*or=30 MeV. The liquid-drop fission barriers of transuranium nuclei are obtained from the high-energy data. Keywords
