The Antiarrhythmic Action of Ambonestyl (2-Diethylaminoethylisonicotinamide, Mc-4112)

Abstract
Ambonestyl was a relatively ineffective agent in the treatment of experimental and human arrhythmias. A comparison with procaine amide showed the latter agent to be definitely superior in the suppression of ventricular arrhythmias. The two drugs have similar rates of metabolism. The induction of premature ventricular contractions by Ambonestyl cautions against its further clinical use.
