An Acute-Leukemia Antigen: Correlation with Clinical Status

Abstract
Antiserums to a purified cell-membrane component from the tissue-culture cell line RAJI, produced in rabbits, are cytotoxic to leukocytes from patients with leukemia, but not to leukocytes from normal persons. This cytotoxic effect of the antiserums was found in 10 patients with acute leukemia in relapse, but nine of the 10 lost this reactivity as they achieved bone-marrow remission. One patient who did not enter remission did not lose reactivity. These antiserums appear to be capable of detecting an antigen associated with acute leukemia in relapse.
