Abstract
The Jaynes-Cummings model of a two-level atom interacting with a single-mode radiation field is examined when the radiation is initially in a squeezed state with varying degrees of squeezing. The dynamical response is studied resorting to an exact integral representation valid for all mean photon numbers of the field, and using the saddle-point method to estimate the integral. Our results confirm and extend the predictions deduced from previous numerical studies. Keywords
