Abstract
Test evaluation of 69-kV cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable and joints for use with such cable is described. Joints suitable for connecting together either lengths of 69-kV cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable or XLPE cable to solid-type paper insulated 69-kV cable are studied. It is shown that the characteristics of the tape selected greatly influence the performance of the joint. The thermal resistivity and the thermal expansion of cross-linked polyethylene are also examined. Keywords
