Abstract
Requirement for S-containing amino acids (SAA), Met and cystine was investigated with 10 groups of 4 male kits fed 5 different levels of SAA at 2 protein levels. The diets were based on traditional feedstuffs and synthetic amino acid mixture. SAA content of diets varied by addition of DL-methionine and N-retention was used to evaluate SAA requirement. Optimum level of SAA in diets for mink at different growth stages was 3.3-3.4 g SAA/100 g crude protein from 10-19 wk of age, 4.6-5.1 g SAA/100 g crude protein from 20-24 wk and 3.7-3.8 g SAA/100 g crude protein from 26 wk until pelting. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
