Abstract
The Harwell multi-angle magnetic spectrograph and tandem Van de Graaff electrostatic generator have been used to study the states of 105Cd populated in the single neutron pickup reaction 106Cd(3He, alpha )105Cd at an incident 3He energy of 18.0 MeV. Eleven states of the final nucleus were identified up to an excitation energy of 3 MeV. Orbital angular momentum ln values of the transferred neutron and single neutron spectroscopic factors of the states excited were extracted by comparison of the measured alpha-particle angular distributions with predictions based on the distorted wave Born approximation. The results are compared with the predictions from pairing theory. Keywords
