Abstract
RETINAL VEIN occlusion is severely debilitating, often causing reduced visual acuity, blindness, and neovascular glaucoma.1-13 Multiple causes of retinal vein occlusion have been proposed.1-13 In a case-control study1 of 87 patients with retinal vein occlusion, hypertension, obesity, and hyperlipidemia were identified as major risk factors for retinal vein occlusion. Dodson et al2 reported similar findings in their study and identified type 2 diabetes mellitus as a risk factor.
