Abstract
We demonstrate electro-optic frequency shifting of laser light (λ=723 nm), electronically tunable through more than ± 1 MHz, in a LiNbO3: Ti single-mode stripe waveguide, using polarization conversion at a traveling index grating, driven by two phase-quadrature voltages of ∼27 V at the offset frequency. The optical carrier and undesired sidebands are suppressed better than 30 dB by polarizers, conversion efficiency ≥70%, device length 4.5 mm, optical bandwidth ∼1 nm; direct butt coupling to fibers is possible. Keywords
