Abstract
A lactating cow received 1.39 g of C14-labeled poloxalene (8,029 [mu]c) plus 40 g of unlabeled poloxalene carrier. The cow was sacrificed 9 days and 16 hour after the isotope was administered. No C14 activity was present in milk secreted during this period. Also no C14 activity was found in blood, digesta, or 16 tissues analyzed after slaughter. Ninety-four per cent of the total C14 activity administered was excreted in feces and 4% in urine. It is apparent that the surfactant is poorly absorbed from the digestive tract. Keywords
