Abstract
RUPTURED aneurysms of the abdominal aorta are unquestionably associated with a high mortality rate. Though modern technics of vascular surgery have altered the essentially hopeless prognosis of patients with ruptured aneurysms and have permitted the salvage of some, the operative mortality reported for patients undergoing corrective surgery for this condition has ordinarily ranged from 50 to 80 per cent.1 2 3 4 5 6 7 The most encouraging view of the prognosis of patients with ruptured aneurysms has recently been presented by De Bakey8 summarizing the experience at Baylor, where the operative mortality was found to be 33 per cent.Because of considerable variation in the . . .Keywords
