Abstract
Five minutes after the intravenous administration of an Escherichia coli cell suspension, the mean values for plasma epinephrine and norepinephrine were 28.29 and 27.34 [mu]g/L respectively. Serum serotonin was 0.11 [mu]g/ml. Control values were 1.21 and 2.19 [mu]g/L and 0.55 [mu]g/ml respectively. Subsequently the catechol amines returned to control levels but the serum serotonin remained low. At death the concentration for plasma epinephrine and norepinephrine was 186.30 and 48.66 jxg/L and 0.32 [mu]g/ml for serum serotonin. Keywords
