Observation of optical limiting and backscattering of nanosecond laser pulses in liquid-crystal fibers

Abstract
We report the recent observation of nonlinear-optical phenomena occurring in isotropic liquid-crystal-cored optical including passive all-optical self-limiting effects, stimulated backscattering, and phase conjugation. These fibers, processes occur at relatively low thresholds and short fiber lengths.Keywords
