Abstract
The autoionising energy levels of the mercury atom have been investigated by observing electron ejected following excitation by incident electrons with kinetic energies in the range 20-500 eV. A number of new assignments have been made to levels of the 5d96s2ns, 5d96s26d, 5d106p2 and 5d96s7s configurations, based on both theoretical calculations and quantum defect series analysis. Keywords
