Abstract
A robotic workstation and a Zymate Laboratory Automation System robot are used to convert giyceride samples to fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) for subsequent gas chromatographic analysis. The robot uses the transesterification procedure with sodium methoxide to prepare the methyl esters. Groups of 24 samples can be automatically prepared with this system. The FAME are in dilute hexane solution and ready for analysis by capillary gas chromatography.
