Abstract
Much work has elucidated the elegant transport machinery that ferries molecules from one end of the cell to the other. In his Perspective, Goldstein discusses a flurry of recent reports that explain how motor proteins such as kinesin, which drives transport vesicles along microtubule tracks, are connected to the vesicles. In some cases, scaffold proteins called JIPs connect kinesin-I to transport vesicles with the added bonus that the signaling complexes to which JIPs also bind get transported along for free. In other cases, kinesin-I is able to bind directly to transmembrane proteins in the vesicle membrane. Keywords
