Abstract
Criticizes Dr. F. A. Beach''s program for testing current theories of animal play on the grounds that no definitive concept of play exists, other than activity that appears useless. Proposes that so-called play behavior be systematically studied in stimulus-reponse terms in the same way that Beach has studied maternal and similar behavior. Keywords
