Abstract
The investigation demonstrated that estrogens produce changes in the electrophoretic lipid pattern and the serum lipid content as studied in 12 females without signs of cyclic ovarian activity (amenorrheal or post menopausal). The total fat content increased in 9 cases and the alpha lipoproteins, expressed as percents of total fat, increased in all cases. The serum cholesterol increased in 6 of the 7 amenorrheal women and decreased in 4 of the 5 postmenopausal women. The serum phospholipids increased in 9 cases. During treatment, the cholesterol-phospholipid ratio decreased in 4 cases, remained unchanged in 4 and increased slightly in 4 cases. Keywords
