Abstract
This review with 140 references covers theoretical considerations on drug action upon central neurones and synapses (classes of junctional transmission, central inhibition, localized chemical stimulation at synapses, and evidence from electron microscopy), indirect pharmacological evidence concerning central mediators and modulators (general, the aromatic alkylamines, cholinergic drugs, tremorigens, iatrogenic parkinsonism, and other mediators and modulators), and other centrally acting drugs (general, anesthetics, other depressants, anticonvulsants, convulsants, tran-quilizers, and antidepressives). This publication has 37 references indexed in Scilit:
