Abstract
Halide ferroelectrics which form larger families of related substances are classified as binary compounds of the HCl group, ABX3, ABX4, A2BX4 compounds and as halides containing organic groups. The importance of crystal engineering within the individual groups is briefly discussed and some possible future trends are shown.Keywords
