Abstract
From consideration of the energy dependence of the - and -nucleus cross sections and different choices of the momentum thresholds for - and -induced events in underground water Cherenkov detectors, it is argued that the neutrino-nucleus cross sections currently used to calculate the expected atmospheric neutrino-induced event rates do not introduce significant error in comparing the measured and expected muon to electron event ratios.
