Abstract
Strains of adenovirus 4, passed 5 times in human embryonic kidney cells and once in cercopithecus monkey kidney cells, retained infectious SV40 although all 6 passages were in the presence of antiLserum to SV40. This remaining infectious SV40 had the thermolability and antigenic properties of the adenovirus, but produced normal SV40 after one passage in the absence of antiserum. These phenotypic changes are believed due to the incorporation of SV40 genetic material within adenovirus capsid proteins. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
