Abstract
A calculation of the interaction of an electric field with the trivalent praseodymium ion at an yttrium site in yttrium ethyl sulphate is attempted and is found to be consistent with the results of a paraelectric resonance experiment. Some implications of the effect for pairs of interacting ions are discussed. Keywords
