Abstract
The germination and survival in soil of Cynosurus cristatus is not directly related to its potential germination. The germinability or potential ability of the species to enter a sward is high. Despite high germinability, seedling survival of the species in single species plantings was less than 50%. A high-speed production potential is necessary to the continuing presence in grassland of C. cristatus in view of its germinability and seedling establishment characteristics.
