Abstract
Time-resolved differential transmission measurements with pump and probe laser pulse durations of less than 100 fs were made on quantum wells with varying well widths. The results were analysed with a phenomenological model using detailed rate equations with five fitting parameters, and comparisons are made with quantum mechanical calculations for carrier relaxations. The times reported here are in good agreement with both theoretical calculations as well as some of the recent experimental results. Keywords
