Abstract
The quadrupolar coupling of the two rhenium isotopes, 185Re and 187Re, in dirhenium decacarbonyl has been investigated as a function of temperature. Between the temperatures 350° and 77°K the coupling constant increases from 132–139 MHz while the asymmetry parameter in the electric field gradient increases from 0.58–0.86. The four allowed transitions have approximately the same linewidth of 17 KHz as measured with an induction spectrometer. Further evidence has been found for a solid‐state phase transition at a temperature of 92°C.Keywords
