Abstract
The occurrence of 2 gibberellin-like substances was demonstrated in the developing banana fruit, Musa sapientum. Chemical and biological evidence, thin-layer chromatography, gradient elution column chromatography, spectrofluorometry, and bioassays, gave a tentative identification of the 2 compounds as GA7 and GAX (previously isolated from Citrus). The GAx-designated compound is believed to occur in the fungus Fusarium moniliforme and in 2 different spp. of higher plants. It does not resemble any of the known gibberellins chromatographically. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
